From Farm to Yarn Field Trips!

Come visit a working farm to learn how different types of animals out in the field help provide the clothing on our backs. Field trip includes approximate one-hour farm tour plus selected activity. Pricing depends on selected activity, farm tour included. Teachers with id free with group, students and chaperones per person:

  • Tour of barn and farm pastures including alpacas, sheep, goats, and chickens
  • Meet an alpaca up close to learn about their gentle nature and feel their soft fiber
  • Learn the basics of how to care for grazing animals and feed some hungry farm critters
  • See and feel examples of fiber from all of the animals
  • Watch demonstrations of fiber preparation for hand spinning fiber into yarn
  • See finished products of clothing items and rugs made from our animals’ fiber
  • Select one yarn craft for your group to create while here at the farm and take home to remember their visit

Picnic tables and grass areas open for snack or lunch if desired

This is a working farm and tours are outside with moderate walking. Please dress accordingly and with appropriate footwear.
